The Chelsea man is close to joining Manchester United according to reports. Manchester united have bid £35 Million for the player.
Mata to join United? |
Manchester United have made a £35 million bid for Chelsea's Juan Mata through a third party, according to Sky Sports News sources.
Neither club have confirmed the offer but the playmaker missed training today and it appears that the first move has been made in what would be one of the biggest transfers of the season.
Deals of this magnitude are seldom completed without complications and the indications are that intermediaries are being allowed to make the running in negotiations before matters are made official.
The attacking midfielder - a £23.5m signing from Valencia in 2011 - has found first-team opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho this season, playing 90 minutes on just three occasions.
What a signing it would be for United, I wonder if Rooney could be headed the other way?
So, will Mata fit into the team? He's been not too great this season and it's not clear where he will play. His best position is behind the striker, but Rooney, Adnan Januzaj, Fellaini and Kagawa are all competing for that spot. He can also play on the wings, so Valencia is probably the most obvious choice to make way.
That would certainly improve Man Utd, although not as much as Yohan Cabaye would in my opinion.
After the Chelsea debacle, it is clear Moyes needs to do something and fast.

How would cabaye fit better?
ReplyDeleteMan Utd seem to be lacking in the centre midfield.
DeleteI think United have players similar to Mata already, Cabaye Plays DM, box to box or in the number 10 role, also leader on the pitch.
Mata would still be a great signing though, both would be unreal.
